As we celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, please join us once again in the ecumenical spirit of a remarkable scholar, public servant and friend, John Brandl. Exacted from English King John by noblemen and clergy more than five centuries before the writing of America’s Declaration of Independence and Constitution, Magna Carta was a touchstone and inspiration in the founding of our own nation. Jump ahead more than 200 years since the writing of America’s two fundamental documents and Magna Carta’s imperative — now greatly enlarged and encompassing not just those of high birth — powerfully persists: How can justice, under the rule of law, be assured for all?

This program is co-sponsored by Growth & Justice Caux Round Table, Center of the American Experiment, Citizens League, and Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
