Frustrated with perennial partisan gridlock and dysfunction in the Minnesota Legislature, two state senators earlier this year took a risk and created an unofficial “Purple Caucus,” an informal place and process whereby members in both parties can communicate and build good will and work toward solutions.
Come hear State Senators Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) and Roger Reinert (DFL-Duluth) talk about what they learned and what might be in store for the Purple Caucus in the next legislative session.
This event is the fifth annual “common ground” gathering in memory of State Senator John Brandl, a highly respected political leader who sought to bridge partisan and ideological differences and find workable solutions to Minnesota’s policy challenges. The Brandl Common Ground Forum is sponsored by groups that span the ideological spectrum: Citizens League, Caux Round Table, Center of the American Experiment, and Growth & Justice.
