Minnesota faces major transportation challenges. Already playing catch-up after many years of insufficient investment, the state has yet to adequately address emerging transportation concerns posed by the needs of existing state residents, forecasted population growth, and the environmental impacts of the current system. Through Smart Investments in Transportation for Minnesota, Growth & Justice worked with key constituencies, stakeholders, opinion leaders and policymakers to identify smart transportation investments, policies and choices that will spur sustainable economic growth for the state, and expanded economic prosperity for all Minnesotans.
The major goals of this project include:
- Better connecting all Minnesotans to jobs and other important destinations.
- Minimizing energy consumption and adverse environmental impacts.
- Improving travel and travel choices for people.
- Improving travel time and efficiency for freight.
