Mónica M. Segura- Schwartz is a graduate student at Metro State University completing her Masters in Advocacy and Political Leadership (MAPL). As a “Mapler” student she joined the team of Growth and Justice in spring of 2018 to provide support to the design and organizing of the One Minnesota Equity Blueprint. Monica has wide experience in facilitation and community development projects. She is the co-chair of the organizing team for Conversations on Race, an annual community event organized by Create CommUNITY, a collaborative of leaders gathered by the St. Cloud Mayor. She is very active in her community in formal and informal boards and initiatives such as Great Theater board of directors, the Community Anti-Racism Education Initiative (C.A.R.E) at St. Cloud State University, recently elected to the Board of Education in her St. Cloud district, and appointed by Governor Mark Dayton to serve on the board of the Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs (MCLA). She has been a consistent advocate for disengaged or underrepresented groups and encourages others to participate in public life by getting involved in community making. She loves nature, theater, dance, murals and believes art is present in any human-made process.
