Freight Transportation: Improving Travel Time and Efficiency for Trucks and Intermodal Freight

Freight.jpgStandout public policies to improve freight movement in Minnesota include maintenance and improvement of the interregional corridor roadways in Greater Minnesota, efforts to reduce unexpected delays and clear traffic incidents on congestion-prone routes in the Twin Cities, improvements and expansion of intermodal freight facilities that can transfer cargo in containers from trains and barges to trucks, and bridge upgrades and repairs on high-priority truck highways.

Those are among the findings in a Growth & Justice report that highlights the crucial importance of freight transportation to Minnesota’s economy.

The Growth & Justice transportation research explores four important subjects – interregional corridors, intermodal freight movement, congestion, and roadways and bridges for heavier trucks.
